Today is my 32nd birthday and I’m pretty jazzed about it. I was very excited to turn 30 and then 31 felt way less exhilarating. Thirty-two though — this feels like a good year. To celebrate turning 32, I thought I’d share a few random facts about myself. Here are 32 things that you might not know about me:
- I am left-handed.
- I opened my first business at 23.
- I can drive a standard and backup a trailer.
- My mom was 41 years old when I was born.
- My first job out of college was the Technology Marketing Director at the Monroe-West Monroe Convention and Visitors Bureau (Yay tourism!).
- I drive a 2-door Mercedes, which is my favorite possession to date.
- My dad passed away from cancer when I was 11 years old.
- I was home-schooled for 2 years.
- I have 1 older brother and 2 older sisters.
- I played softball until I was 19.
- I don’t watch sad movies. Ever.
- I won an essay contest in high school that earned me a free trip to Washington DC, where I met my best friend!
- I have 7 nieces and nephews, and the oldest is 26.
- I have a chiari malformation which causes some issues, including migraines which I’ve gotten mostly under control.
- I traveled to Spain and France as a teenager.
- My first “real” job was at Old Navy. I was part of the crew that opened the Monroe store.
- I loathe pastel colors.
- I almost died as a baby from a fever disease. I had to be packed in ice to reduce my 108 degree fever.
- I wear a size 4.5 women’s shoe. (That’s a 2.5-3 in kids sizes.)
- I’ve always wanted 5 kids (and hope to someday adopt!).
- I was on PREP Staff at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, where we welcomed thousands of freshmen into the university that summer.
- If I could remedy any world problem, it would be homelessness and poverty.
- I have freaky fast reflexes.
- I found my first gray hair in the 6th grade. My hair is naturally gray at this point.
- I cannot whistle.
- I love being outside.
- I did Achy Breaky Heart by Billy Ray Cyrus at a talent show once.
- I am fiercely competitive. I will still break out into a run if I think you’re trying to race me.
- I cannot stand mayo and will fake an allergy to have it corrected at a restaurant. (Shh, don’t tell anyone.)
- I’ve never smoked a cigarette. I’m allergic to smoke.
- I’m from a small town, where there were 26 in my high school graduating class.
- My middle name is Jo.
There you have it! A handful of completely RANDOM facts about me. If you need me today, I’ll be out reminding folks that it’s my birthday and eating strawberry cake. (That’s another random fact, by the way. I’ve had strawberry cake on my birthday ever since I can remember!)
